Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival – Addis Ababa City Tour

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Explore Addis Ababa: drive up Mount Entoto for panoramic views, visit the National Museum (home of “Lucy”), Holy Trinity Cathedral, Ethnographic Museum, and stroll through Merkato, Africa’s largest open-air market. Overnight in Addis Ababa.

Day 2

Fly Addis – Bahir Dar (Lakeside Town)

Morning flight to Bahir Dar. Afternoon boat cruise on Lake Tana to visit the 14th-century Ura Kidane Mihret Monastery. Afternoon visit to the Blue Nile Falls. Overnight in Bahir Dar.

Day 3

Bahir Dar – Gondar (The Camelot of Africa)

Drive to Gondar, Ethiopia’s former royal capital. Afternoon sightseeing: Royal Enclosure with medieval castles, Debre Birhan Selassie Church, and historic Qusquam Church. Overnight in Gondar.

Day 4

Fly Gondar – Axum (Ancient Civilization)

Flight to Axum. City tour: Stelae Park, St. Mary’s Church & Chapel of the Ark of the Covenant, Queen of Sheba’s Bath & Palace ruins, Tombs of King Kaleb & Gebre Meskel, Ezana’s Inscriptions, and Axum Museum. Overnight in Axum.

Day 5

Fly Axum – Lalibela (Eighth Wonder of the World)

Flight to Lalibela. Afternoon tour of famous rock-hewn churches, carved entirely out of stone and still active places of worship. Overnight in Lalibela.

Day 6

Excursion to Yimrehane Kristos & More Churches

Morning visit to Yimrehane Kristos cave church. Afternoon tour of other Lalibela churches: Bete Gabriel, Bete Marqorios, Bete Emmanuel & Bete Aba Libanos. Overnight in Lalibela.

Day 7

Fly Lalibela – Addis – Drive to Langano

Morning flight to Addis, then drive south through the Rift Valley. Visit Lake Ziway and continue to Lake Langano for swimming and relaxation. Overnight in Langano.

Day 8

Langano – Dorze Village – Arba Minch

Drive to Arba Minch, stopping at Dorze Village, known for beehive-shaped houses, skilled weaving, and enset (“false banana”) staple food. Overnight in Arba Minch.

Day 9

Arba Minch – Konso – Jinka

Morning boat trip on Lake Chamo to see crocodiles, hippos, and birds. Visit Konso people (UNESCO World Heritage site) and continue via Banna & Ari tribes villages. Overnight in Jinka.

Day 10

Jinka – Mago NP – Turmi

Excursion into Mago National Park to meet the Mursi people. Afternoon drive to Turmi, home of the Hamer people. Overnight in Turmi.

Day 11

Murulle & Nyangatom Excursion

Visit Karo people in Murulle, famous for elaborate body paintings. Continue to meet the Nyangatom, known for beaded necklaces and decorated goatskin skirts. Overnight in Turmi.

Day 12

Turmi – Yabello

Drive to Yabello via Arbore & Tsemay villages. Visit the Tsemay (known for facial tattoos, hair braiding, and beadwork) and Borena people near Yabello. Overnight in Yabello.

Day 13

Yabello – Yirgalem (Coffee Country)

Drive through Ethiopia’s coffee-growing region to Yirgalem, surrounded by lush plantations. Overnight in Yirgalem.

Day 14

Yirgalem – Awassa – Addis – Departure

Morning visit to Awassa fish market. Return drive to Addis Ababa with sightseeing en route. Evening farewell dinner with traditional dances & coffee ceremony. Airport transfer for departure.
